Is Keto Worth It?
Here’s some encouragement to those of you who are new to Keto. Going Keto, particularly if you’re not coming from a a low-carb, or Paleo lifestyle could have some challenges since it will be a radically different change in foods and mindset.
It’s an easy diet but may not seem complicated until you learn the ropes and start reaping the amazing benefit of Keto. It’s worth it! Keep all of this in mind especially the first few weeks. Here are a few important tips:
1) When you first start Keto you are super motivated to change your ways. Take advantage of that! Keep Going!
2) Download an app to track your food and set your Macros to 5% carbs, 75% fat and 20% protein. It will make your life easier and you will be assured you are doing Keto right. Keep Going!
3) Keto offers delicious foods and you aren’t hungry so this makes the diet satisfying. Be sure to research easy Keto recipes and put together a meal plan of foods you like so you have variety and don’t get bored. Keep Going!
4) During the first week or so of Keto you will have a huge win! You will drop several pounds almost immediately as you burn off glycogen. This fuels your motivation and Keto diet. Keep Going!
5) Then you hit the “Keto Flu” because you aren’t fully burning ketones instead of glucose. Symptoms can include headaches, tiredness, dizziness, and generally feeling crappy. (There are ways for this to pass quickly. Use chicken bone broth, electrolytes and Pink Salt). Keep Going!
6) Read labels. I can’t stress this enough. Hidden sugar is in everything. You may feel angry. Keep Going!
7) Don’t get discouraged if the weight loss slows down, or when the flu hits. This is when most people quit or get frustrated and say it’s too hard or it doesn’t work. I did this! I gave up on myself just when I was well on my way to Keto really working for me. It does get easier. You will lose lots of weight. You will have more energy. Your moodiness and bloating will go away. It will be worth it. it will become easy and simply the way you live. Keep Going!
*8) You may get frustrated over reading so many labels, modifying your orders while dining out, or that it takes a little more prep time in the kitchen. Keep Going!
